Crunchy · Last updated 17 September 2026

This policy explains what Crunchy collects, why, and what you can do about it. Crunchy is an educational app that plays short lessons drawn and narrated on a board. It is operated by Leapforge Innovations Private Limited, a company registered in Maharashtra, India.

If you only read one thing: we collect what is needed to run your account and make lessons work well for you. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not build advertising profiles.

1. What we collect

CategoryWhat it isWhy
Account Email address and display name, through Google Sign-In or email sign-up (handled by Firebase Authentication). We never see or store your Google password. To create your account and let you sign in on a new device.
Profiles The profile names and avatars you create, and the learning level you pick. Several profiles can sit under one account. So each person in a household gets their own progress and recommendations.
Learning activity Which lessons you open and how far you get, quiz answers and scores, XP, badges, streaks, game results, and your My List. To resume where you stopped, show progress, and award streaks and badges.
Search history What you type into search inside the app. To return results, and to find out which topics people want that we have not written yet.
Preferences A taste profile built from the categories and levels you watch, plus any lessons you mark as not interested. To order the shelves on Home. It is derived from your own activity, not bought from anyone.
Social features If you use Watch Together: room and invite codes, squad names, and chat messages sent in a room. To keep viewers in sync and to run the room. See §4 on moderation.
Approximate location Country level only, derived from your IP address or device region. For the "Top 10 in your country" shelf and for pricing. We do not collect GPS or precise location.
Device and diagnostics Device model, operating system version, app version, language, crash reports and error logs. To fix crashes and to know which devices we must keep working.
Purchases If you subscribe, Google Play tells us that a subscription is active and gives us a purchase token. To unlock what you paid for. Card and UPI details go to Google Play and never reach us.

What we do not collect

2. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. Data reaches a small number of service providers who process it on our behalf:

ProviderWhat they receive
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Messaging) Your account, profiles, learning activity and preferences. Firebase is where Crunchy's data lives.
Google Play Billing Handles the payment itself. We receive only the fact of a valid subscription.
Our own server (hosted in the EU by Hostinger) Serves lesson content and share links.

Lesson narration is generated before the app ships, from lesson scripts we write ourselves. Nothing you say, type or do is ever sent to a text-to-speech or AI service.

We will also disclose data if the law requires it, and we will tell you unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.

3. Where data is stored, and for how long

Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure and on our server. Some of these are outside India, so your data may be processed abroad under contractual protections.

4. Chat and moderation

Watch Together includes chat. To keep it usable by school-age learners:

5. Children

Crunchy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. You must be 13 or older to create an account. Crunchy does not currently offer child profiles under the Google Play Families programme.

Many lessons are written for school syllabi, so a parent may well use Crunchy with a child. In that case the account belongs to the parent, who is responsible for it. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to privacy@thecrunchy.in and we will delete it.

6. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and similar laws elsewhere, you may:

We answer requests within 30 days.

7. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS. Access to production data is limited to the operator. Authentication is handled by Firebase, so we never store passwords ourselves.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach puts your data at real risk, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

8. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
