Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Crunchy collects, why, and what you can do about it. Crunchy is an educational app that plays short lessons drawn and narrated on a board. It is operated by Leapforge Innovations Private Limited, a company registered in Maharashtra, India.
If you only read one thing: we collect what is needed to run your account and make lessons work well for you. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not build advertising profiles.
1. What we collect

What we do not collect
- Precise or GPS location.
- Your contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
- Card numbers, UPI IDs or bank details.
- An advertising ID. Crunchy does not show ads and has no ad SDK.
- Biometric data, health records, or anything about your religion, caste or politics.
2. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. Data reaches a small number of service providers who process it on our behalf:

Lesson narration is generated before the app ships, from lesson scripts we write ourselves. Nothing you say, type or do is ever sent to a text-to-speech or AI service.
We will also disclose data if the law requires it, and we will tell you unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.
3. Where data is stored, and for how long
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure and on our server. Some of these are outside India, so your data may be processed abroad under contractual protections.
- Account and profiles — kept until you delete your account.
- Learning activity — kept until you delete your account, so streaks and progress survive a reinstall.
- Chat messages — kept for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Crash and error logs — kept for up to 90 days.
- Purchase records — kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, currently eight years. This is the one category we cannot delete on request.
4. Chat and moderation
Watch Together includes chat. To keep it usable by school-age learners:
- Messages pass through automated filters before other people see them.
- Profile and squad names are checked and rejected outright if they break the rules — a name is seen by everyone, every time.
- Contact details are stripped from chat — phone numbers, emails, social handles. This is deliberate. Moving a child off-platform is how grooming starts.
- You can report a room or a message from inside the app.
5. Children
Crunchy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. You must be 13 or older to create an account. Crunchy does not currently offer child profiles under the Google Play Families programme.
Many lessons are written for school syllabi, so a parent may well use Crunchy with a child. In that case the account belongs to the parent, who is responsible for it. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to privacy@thecrunchy.in and we will delete it.
6. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and similar laws elsewhere, you may:
- See what we hold about you.
- Correct anything wrong or out of date.
- Delete your account and data — see Delete your account. You can do this yourself in the app; you do not need our permission.
- Withdraw consent at any time. Some features stop working without the data they depend on — that is a consequence, not a penalty.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated.
- Complain to us first, and to the Data Protection Board of India if we do not resolve it.
We answer requests within 30 days.
7. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS. Access to production data is limited to the operator. Authentication is handled by Firebase, so we never store passwords ourselves.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach puts your data at real risk, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
8. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
